Count Down to Eid el Fitr
Don't miss out on the blessings of Zakat al Fitr!
As the month of Ramadhan draws to a close, let’s fulfill our religious obligation and share wealth with those less fortunate. Revive the Sunnah by donating food and help ensure a happy Eid for everyone.
Our collection
We collect staple food from the 28th Ramadhan, which falls this year on Friday 28th March. This allows us to prepare the packages and distribute the following day to make sure that our beneficiaries receive their donations before Eid. To find out about the drop off address, follow us on instagram.
Subulus Salaam aims at providing enough food to needy Muslim families for the day of Eid el Fitr and for the following weeks.
We call the community to follow the Sunnah of Allah’s messenger ﷺ by donating food packages based on the hadeeth:
Imam el Bukhaari and Muslim narrated that Abu Sa‘eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We used to pay Zakat al-Fitr at the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of al-Fitr, a saa‘ of food. Abu Sa‘eed said: And our (staple) food was barley, raisins, dried yoghurt and dates.
A number of scholars interpreted Zakat al Fitr as “foodstuff” referring to any staple food available in a region, no matter what it is, whether it is wheat, corn, rice or something else. This is the correct view, because zakat al fitr is a means by which the rich help the poor, and the Muslims are not required to help with anything other than the staple food available in the land where they reside.
